Any person or organization based in the European Union is affected by the application of the GDPR. The GDPR concerns both the private and the public sectors. All persons or organizations that are not members of the European Union are also concerned from the moment they collect or manage data from residents of the EU. As of May 25, 2018, anyone who does not comply with the GDPR rules will risk dissuasive financial penalties. These financial penalties may represent up to 20 million euros or 4% of a company’s worldwide turnover for the following offenses. For any company collecting personal data, in other words almost all companies, there are only 6 months left to be in compliance with the GDPR.
