Switzerland lies between a low over the Baltic and a low over the Iberian Peninsula. A high with its centre northwest of Scotland is increasingly determining the weather. Yesterday afternoon Switzerland was still in an unstable southwesterly flow, in the evening the low in the northeast directed a cold front to the northern side of the Alps. Today, Saturday, the front settled on the northern slope of the Alps. The upper air flow behind the front turned to the northwest, which caused the moisture to accumulate somewhat on the central and eastern northern slopes of the Alps. Colder air is now flowing in behind the front. In addition, the high is increasingly expanding towards us, causing a bise situation. Tomorrow, Sunday, the upper air flow will also turn to the northeast, which will make the bise even stronger.
