A story of evolution in the structure of our articles

Every year! as October comes around! the editorial team starts preparing the trend articles for the following year . This ritual of analysis and prediction has been with us since 2017! when we published our first digital marketing trends article . We have always been very meticulous about the structure of the articles! as we know how important it is for Google and for readers.

Until now! the structure we used to follow was quite standard : we started with a clear and direct H1 (the title of the article) and then e-commerce in italy reached we used to put an H2 that summarized the main topic. Then! the different trends were developed as H3s under that H2! that is! we created a hierarchy where all the trends were subordinated to the general topic.

In preparing our series of articles content structure on digital marketing trends for the coming year! Tanit de Pouplana proposed a different approach to me: Why not make each trend an H2 instead of an H3? Like any major change! we decided to investigate the benefits of both structures to determine which is the best option! both from an SEO and user experience (UX) perspective .

Evaluating options: H2 or H3 for trends?

To make an informed decision! we turned to ChatGPT as a support tool! seeking a clear view of the pros and cons of both options. However! the final decision is made by us! applying human judgment based on our experience and cmo email list analysis of what will work best for our readers. Below! we share what we learned in this process.

Option 1: H2 for each trend (without H3)

The first option we considered was to treat each trend as a main topic with its own H2. This would mean that all trends would have a higher hierarchical level in the article! without needing to be subordinate to a general H2.
