The 3 factors of the Google AdWords Quality Score

In the Google AdWords system, the Quality Score of an ad depends on three main factors , which are calculat for each of the keywords in the account:

Expected click-through rate

The likelihood that users will click on your ads when they appear for that keyword, regardless of ad position, extensions, and other formats that may affect their visibility. Ultimately, expected click-through rate reflects how likely your ads are to generate clicks.

Ad relevance

The relationship between the keyword and your ads. That is, the degree of match between the keyword and your ads.

Landing page experience

The likelihood that the page linked in the ad will provide a good experience for users who click on it. Factors such as page clarity, loading times, and keyword relationships all play a role here.

All of these factors are scored bas on the past performance of the ads to give one of three Special File results: average, above average, or below average. The overall quality score is then express as a number from 1 to 10.

What’s new in Google Adwords in Quality Score?

Until now, to check our Quality Score in Google AdWords we had to look at the BT Leads  column in the keywords tab. By hovering over the keyword status, a balloon would open with information about the expected click-through rate, the relevance of the ad and the landing page experience. In addition, all this information was timely and instantaneous, i.e. it referred only to the time of the query.

With the new metrics column

You can now add information about each of the Google AdWords Quality Score factors as an additional column . The option is found in the Columns—Quality Score menu. This way, it will be much easier for you to keep track of each of the elements at a glance.

But that’s not all

We now also have historical information on the Quality Score metrics , both globally and for each of the above elements. This makes it possible to see how the quality levels and their respective attributes have varied over time, and detect trends that allow us to improve the account’s performance.
